I had the privilege this week to meet Carl “Two Feathers” Whitaker, a candidate for Tennessee’s governor in 2010. Whitaker is a Native American by birth and has a deep rooted compassion to make government truly work for the best of the people who elect their leaders. As we were talking Carl made it clear over and over that he was not a politician but a visionary with much more than just lofty ideas but a growing network of committed helpers and workers he believes will help him win the race in 2010. His definition of politics made me laugh and one I have to share on our blog. “Poly,” he said means “many,” and “tics,” means bloodsuckers. “That is certainly what defines the state of government in America today!”
I got a good chuckle out of that but our conversation turned very serious when we discussed how he stood on abortion. I told Carl that it was amazing to me how the Presidential debates – on both sides – had been void of any discussion about what each candidate would do to end the legal slaughter of millions of unborn babies each year in America.
As important as a candidate’s stances will be on the economy, Iraq and illegal immigration – those issues are temporal when viewed in light of the awful blood letting upon our nation at the present time because of this law. Abortion is not a political matter; it is an ETERNAL matter that is tied to those in political power! Roe V. Wade was NOT the consensus of the American public in 1973 but pushed through by a liberal wing of the Supreme Court pressured by a then growing feminist movement that if given its way would remove every Godly foundation on the face of this earth, especially in America. Carl got very solemn when he looked me in the eye and said without blinking, “I support banning abortion and making it illegal in the strongest of terms.”
I told Carl that there is STILL an element of Christian believers in this nation whose conscience has not been seared and blinded by gender, race or religion in how they vote. What I mean by that is simple. Many are voting for Mrs. Clinton simply because she is a woman; some are voting for Mr. Obama because he is black; some of voting for Mr. Huckabee simply because he claims he is born again and is an ordained Baptist minister. Huckabee has come out stronger than probably anyone on the Presidential trail against abortion but has only give lip service to pushing for the end of Roe V. Wade. Mitt Romney and John McCain have made some positive comments as did Fred Thompson, who dropped out last week to this writer’s disappointment. Thompson I felt had the most consistent pro-life, anti-abortion stance from day one than any candidates -either Democrat or Republican.
I submit to the reader that the Republicans lost power in 2006 because they failed to show moral courage after President Bush got reelected in 2004, had a majority in both houses of Congress, and did not make ONE effort to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Granted nothing may have been able to have been done but if the Senate and House would have at least TRIED to pass legislation to address this issue and let the Supreme Court get a hold of it I believe we had a real shot of ending this blood letting in the name of “choice.” It was evident that the reasons the Republican-led Congress did nothing was because most worried more about being re-elected instead of doing what was RIGHT in the sight of God and friend, was is RIGHT in the sight of God is always going to be GOOD for America – the protecting of the unborn innocent.
Now, Congress has a 19% approval rating led by another party whose platform brags of its “protection” of Roe V. Wade and a woman’s right to slaughter her baby if the economics don’t add up or she and the man who had intercourse more than likely outside the bounds of marriage don’t want to be “bogged down” as I heard one female wickedly say the other day with the birth of a new born. As I close this blog today I submit this to the reader.
If a candidate will not have the moral courage to stand up for the unborn innocents in a woman’s womb, how do we think they will EVER have the moral courage to stand up for the innocent life of all citizens in America in an ongoing war against Islamic terrorism and extremism? I will answer my own question – they won’t! Write your emails and tell us we’re narrow minded, chauvinist pigs and all sorts of other things that those who oppose this hideous practice are usually called by those who seek to protect this law that has unleashed an unspeakable evil upon this land.
It’s amazing that PETA can march outside a Virginia courthouse while Mike Vick is sentenced for killing two pit bull dogs saying “Dogs Deserve Justice Too” and are called heroes by the news media – ever the conservative outlets – while if someone walks outside an abortion clinic saying “WHERE IS THE JUSTICE FOR THE UNBORN?” they are called criminals. I’m not making what Mr. Vick did anything less than despicable but when we value the life of a dog MORE than we do the life of a baby we are calling “evil” “good” and “good” ‘evil.” Isaiah the prophet labeled such insanity by simply saying “WOE” and predicting judgement upon such sentiment in any society.
Friend, America is headed for a collision course with an Almighty God if we don’t come to our senses and REPENT. I put this challenge to the Christian community today and make it as clear as crystal. We are STILL the salt of the earth – at least those left with a moral compass and filled with the Spirit of God - who STILL care about the future of our nation and still have a voice in who is elected to lead our nation past 2008. We need to PRAY and ask the Lord who He would have us vote for.
When we pull that lever we need to ask ourself this eternal question – is the candidate I am voting for going to do everything in their power to honor God in the office they are being elected to AND will they show the moral courage to fight for the oppressed – the widows and orphans of this land AND the unborn innocent millions who have no one to fight for them save those of us who see this hideous sin as it is – SIN and WICKEDNESS – and continue to cry out against it. If we don’t stop voting our wallet instead of our conscience – we will soon not have a conscience left in this nation.
I’m afraid that scenario is becoming a reality more and more each day that goes by as we get closer to the rapture. It’s getting late friend and its harvest time.
