A news story this week reports that the number of abortions in the United States dropped to 1.2 million in 2005, the lowest level since 1974 and down 25 percent from the all-time high of 1.6 million in 1990, according to report issued Thursday. The Guttmacher Institute, which surveyed abortion providers nationwide, said there likely were several reasons for the decline, including more effective use of contraceptives, lower levels of unintended pregnancy, and greater difficulty obtaining abortions in some parts of the country. Only in America do we think something is accomplished when 1.2 million babies are killed instead of 1.6 million. That is the definition of apostasy, reprobate thinking and a darkened heart at its worst. Abortion is the most wicked forms of violence perpetrated upon a human being but more importantly against an innocent victim – an unborn child. The child is not a “fetus,” “tissue” or a “choice;” that child is a HUMAN LIFE with a HUMAN SOUL whose creative process comes from the Lord Almighty. God is the author of LIFE and He alone has the right whether to end it or not. Wicked human doctors who make their living performing abortions are not. I recently posted a post on our blog concerning the recent incarceration of Michael Vick, former quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons, who was sentenced to 24 months in jail for killing two pit bulls. The outrage over Mr. Vick’s actions was loud and across the board nationally. News media outlets, religious leaders, civil leaders, and of course our wonderful friends from PETA who marched and showed their signs, “Dogs deserve justice too” in front of the courthouse steps the day Mr. Vick was sentenced. My humble question is this: “where is the justice for 1.2 million babies who were slaughtered in 2005? Yes, this figure is the lowest since 1974 but friend that figure should be ZERO! Abortion is a SIN and the woman and man who have engaged in sex outside marriage yet want to cover their sin by killing the baby it produced will stand before a Holy God one day and give an account unless they repent. Last year President Bush signed a law banning partial birth abortion which was a step in the right direction but it was not enough. We had a chance as a nation between 2004 and 2006 to get Roe V. Wade overturned and possibly curb this tide even more. This writer personally believes the slap down defeat of the Republicans in the 2006 Congressional races was a direct result of their lack of courage in fighting for the unborn when President Bush would have signed a bill into law THEY COULD HAVE PASSED outlawing this case. One may argue that the Supreme Court would have threw it out. I don’t think so. The nominations of Samuel Alito and John Roberts made it clear that the court was leaning to a more conservative tone. There is still time for action before President Bush leaves office but we need to pray. Friend, hear this writer who closes this short blog with these solemn statements. God is going to hold America accountable for the innocent blood that has been shed in every single abortion clinic. The cries of millions of unborn babies are coming up before Him from the ground just as the blood of Abel cried out to Him so long ago. I keep thinking of my friend Nita Johnson and what she prophesied back in the early 1990s when the Lord told her that if America continued to allow this sin upon her land the Lord would turn America’s fate over as that of China where FORCED abortions are the rule. If we won’t repent of the sin of abortion, then God is going to FORCE the same sin upon us as judgment. That is repulsive to some but it’s a spiritual law that what one sows (whether a nation or an individual) that same sin they will reap. God is not MOCKED! Take that as you like. Get angry if you want. But there is a scourge of innocent blood screaming from the grounds of this land as we write these word and that scourge holds severe eternal consequences not just for our land but for the inhabitants. It’s getting late neighbor, and it’s harvest time:

“Applause from Hell” AOL’S same poll shows that 74% of Americans support abortion either outright or in some cases. It is our opinion that there is NEVER a case for killing an innocent life. God is the author of life and He must be given sovereignty in ALL situations to ensure that the life of both mother and baby are safe. Where does YOUR Candidate in the 2008 Presidential Race stand on Abortion? We’ll let you know in a soon coming post!
It is not the Judges of the Supreme Court of the United States that we will be standing in front of, they themselves will be standing before the Eternal God of Creation, who is Almighty, All Knowing and Everywhere at Once – He knows! He will judge my actions and yours. Be strong and of good courage and stand for what is right. Jesus is Lord, and He reigns – we should not bow to what is expedient and approved by the world, it is the final bow that counts. “Every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
Elaine, thanks so much for your thoughts! We totally agree with your post. There is a HIGHER COURT in heaven that will judge the souls of men and hold in account those who shed innocent blood upon the Earth and the doctors who perform such murderous deeds. Unless there is repentance there will be judgement upon the land for this horrendous sin. God’s mercy continues to be extended and rejected. We can only pray that revival comes soon and transforms the hearts of those in our nation.
Sanctity of Life Sunday is a day to observe national repentance for the sin of abortion that has destroyed millions of human beings who were not given the right to be born. It is also a page to celebrate the life that each one of us is given by our Creator.
In God’s eyes, we are each endowed with a touch of Himself. Each human carries within his or her being the eternal, holy breath of God, the Creator.
Therefore, each human life exists as an expression of God and His character. We are all image-bearers of the Living God. Since we embody God’s image, the sacredness of our lives, and the dignity it demands, is based on something beyond our characteristics or abilities – it is rooted in the essence of God Himself.
Abortion Facts from within the United States:
Number of abortions per year: 1.20 Million (2005)
Number of abortions per day: Approximately 3,700
Who’s having abortions (age)?
52% of women obtaining abortions in the U.S. are younger than 25:
Women aged 20-24 obtain 32% of all abortions; Teenagers obtain 20% and girls under 15 account for 1.2%.
Who’s having abortions (religion)?
Women identifying themselves as Protestants obtain 37.4% of all abortions in the U.S.; Catholic women account for 31.3%, Jewish women account for 1.3%, and women with no religious affiliation obtain 23.7% of all abortions. 18% of all abortions are performed on women who identify themselves as “Born-again/Evangelical”.
Why women have abortions
Less than 1% of all abortions occur because of rape or incest; 6% of abortions occur because of potential health problems regarding either the mother or child, and 93% of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient).
Likelihood of abortion:
An estimated 43% of all women will have at least 1 abortion by the time they are 45 years old. 47% of all abortions are performed on women who have had at least one previous abortion
Abortion coverage:
48% of all abortion facilities provide services after the 12th week of pregnancy. 9 in 10 managed care plans routinely cover abortion or provide limited coverage. About 14% of all abortions in the United States are paid for with public funds, virtually all of which are state funds.
16 states (CA, CT, HI, ED, IL, MA , MD, MD, MN, MT, NJ, NM, NY, OR, VT, WA and WV) pay for abortions for some poor women.
At what gestational ages are abortions performed:
52% of all abortions occur before the 9th week of pregnancy, 25% happen between the 9th & 10th week, 12% happen between the 11th and 12th week, 6% happen between the 13th & 15th week, 4% happen between the 16th & 20th week, and 1% of all abortions (16,450/yr.) happen after the 20th week of pregnancy.
These figures should make us repent, sob and weep before the Lord and beg for His mercy and forgiveness upon our Land!
Speaking of abortion, I am so often frustrated by my Christian friends (I am a Christian myself) who use a candidate’s opinions on abortion to decide who they’ll vote for. Since an election is approaching us this seems to come up a lot lately.
Before reading the rest of what I’m about to write it should be noted that I am a Republican and have been registered as such since age 18.
It should also be noted that it is MY opinion that abortion is horrible.
That being said:
I really think the abortion issue is a political hot button for Republicans, and nothing more. Not one of the Republicans who have been in office since Roe v. Wade have seen it overturned, and there have been DECADES of Republican “rule” in which to accomplish such. Not one of them will change it in the future either. It is used as a political tool during elections, and then forgotten about it until it is time to run for office again.
A Republican was in office when abortion was made legal. He was powerless to do anything about it. The same can be said for any future Republican candidate: they’ll also be powerless to change the legality of abortion.
Ah! But what about the SUPREME COURT, you might ask?
We can talk about possible nominees to the Supreme Court until we’re blue in the face, but the reality of life is that yet another conservative nominee will not change a thing!
Here is what I mean:
Of the 9 Justices currently serving,
1 was appointed by President Ford,
2 were appointed by President Reagan,
2 were appointed by President Clinton,
2 were appointed by George Bush Senior,
2 were appointed by George Bush Junior.
So with 7 out of 9 Justices appointed by Republicans I ask, has abortion gone away?
No.
Will it?
Highly unlikely (see above).
When deciding which candidate I’ll vote for, the abortion issue is not part of my consideration simply because I know that no matter what a candidate’s opinions on the topic, pro or con, they will not change anything in this matter.
I don’t see why it’s important what party appointed which Justices to the Supreme Court and who didn’t. This is not a political issue but an eternal one. If we willingly vote for someone who clearly states they stand for abortion rights then we are, in my humble opinion, putting our approval on what they believe. In addition, if we do so thinking that we can turn our head and ignore their stance on this issue because they may be on our side with domestic promises they will not keep either, then we are just as culpuable and guilty in the sight of God as those directly involved in the abortion process – i.e. the doctor, the woman and the man – in that we have put our approval on it. The church needs to come to grips with the fact that we are still the salt of the earth if we choose to be and can make a difference. The problem is we’ve lost the heart to fight this battle because many hold the same thinking as this post stated “no matter what a candidate’s opinion on the topic,” pro or con they will not change anything in this matter. That may be true but it does not relinquish the church of its conscience and soul to vote against those blatantly supporting this hideous and damnable act of wickedness that has taken the lives of nearly 300 million babies since 1973. No, abortion is not the only issue we need to look at but we had better come to understand that it’s one God looks at. The clock is ticking towards America’s collision course with Him over the shedding of innocent blood. He has shown mercy but that mercy has been extended to get us to look at our hearts and see the evil we’ve committed and REPENT. I’d rather vote for someone who at least tries to have some eternal values and maybe disagree with them on temporal issues than vote for someone without a soul or conscience and who would further unleash the gates of hell upon this land. God help us in this last hour to come to our senses and see the evil as God sees it and regain His heart and hurt over the blood crying from the soil of our nation’s ground.
