In an article today out of the Jerusalem Post where Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Ohlmert calls Israel’s “settlements” on the West Bank a “disgrace.” Olmert on Sunday many of the unauthorized West Bank settlements were standing four years after Israel promised to dismantle them, following pointed criticism from President Bush.
In a meeting with political allies, Olmert used the harsh word “disgrace” to show his determination to implement his obligations under the “road map,” the 2003 plan that serves as the basis for renewed peace negotiations, according to a participant who spoke on condition of anonymity because the meeting was closed. The “road map” plan calls for Israel to halt settlement construction and take down unauthorized outposts built after March 2001, and for the Palestinians to dismantle violent groups.
This stupidity is pushing both Israel and America on a collision course with God over covenant land that is not Israel NOR America’s to carve up and hand over to the Palestinians. These settlements Ohlmert and America are complaining about are actually on land that Israel has both a HISTORICAL and a BIBLICAL right to! The only disgrace in this entire discourse is Ohlmert himself who has proven to be as wicked and faithless a leader as Israel has ever seen.
It seems however, Ohlmert has America’s blessing in making such statements and thus whatever settlements are dismantled by Israel it will be as if America were right along side doing it. Our memories are really short here in America. It was just three years ago in 2005 when two days after American forced Israel to give up the Gaza Strip which caused thousands to become literally homeless in Israel, Hurricane Katrina slammed the U.S. Gulf Coast, caused the largest evacuation in U.S. history, the most damage of any natural disaster in our nation’s history and plunged the U.S. into utter chaos financially and in effect because of President Bush’s poor response to the situation cost the Republicans Congress due to the nation’s discontent with the President’s party.
Mr. Ohlmert, YOU are the real disgrace to Israel and the Jewish nation for betraying your own people seeking to appease Arab and American pressure. Those settlers are simply people seeking a place to live and make provision for their families. Again, look in the mirror Mr. Ohlmert and see the REAL disgrace in this entire ordeal and matter. Let the reader be sure of this one thing. Israel will dismantle and halt all the settlement construction they want but the Palestinians will NEVER dismantle their violent groups nor cease from their dedication and vow to destroy Israel. It’s like the entire Israeli leadership is in the worst fog it’s ever been in. The darkness over the hearts of Israel’s leader is without a doubt the worst over any Israeli administration in the history of Israel since she became a nation in 1948. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Sunday negotiating teams would begin tackling the “core issues,” including borders, Jerusalem and Palestinian refugees, at their meeting on Monday. Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev confirmed that teams would begin discussing those issues.
“If we reach an agreement on all these issues, then we can say that we have reached a final agreement,” Abbas said in a speech in the West Bank city of Ramallah, adding that a peace treaty must resolve disputes over all the issues. Israeli settlements are high on the Palestinian agenda. They consider all the settlements, not just the unauthorized outposts, to be illegal encroachment on their land. What the Palestinians have not gotten and it seems never will is these “encroachments” are NOT on THEIR land but Israel’s land.
In February 2006, just weeks after taking office, Olmert sent police to tear down nine unauthorized homes in the Amona outpost, sparking violent clashes with settlers. In the two years since, he has taken no serious action against outposts. At a news conference last week in Jerusalem with Olmert, Bush said, “Look, I mean, we’ve been talking about it for four years. The agreement was, `Get rid of outposts, illegal outposts,’ and they ought to go.’” The Settlers Council issued a statement warning Olmert not to forcefully evict them again.“In Amona, Olmert thought it was not right to solve the problem in negotiations and he led to an unnecessary conflict and rift in Israeli society. That way failed and brought severe consequences and the prime minister should not attempt it again,” the statement read.
In his speech Sunday, Abbas said, “We told President Bush that we can’t move ahead in negotiations while settlement activities are going on. We can’t have negotiations while they are building houses all over.” It’s amazing how “negotiations” cannot go on while Israel builds houses and Hamas and the Palestinian Authority cannot seem to stop shooting rockets into Israel. A report out just yesterday said that Israeli Defense forces have stopped 1,000 terrorists since February 2007 entering into Israel. Think of that number friend. If just one-third of those terrorists had gotten through defense forces and detonated bombs in Israel the loss of life would have been horrific. These were NOT European or Mexican or French terrorists but MUSLIM terrorists from the Palestinian Authority. Someone said recently that “you can’t blame the Palestinian people for the terrorism,” a statement which we STRONGLY disagree with. The Palestinian People elected HAMAS to lead them in 2006 and by doing so embraced what Hamas stands for – the destruction of Israel.
The terrorism will NOT stop even if American props up a Palestinian state and solves every single issue the Palestinians are clamoring for. If Israel granted them EVERY single wish there would STILL be terrorism! Why we can’t see that as Americans is simply one word – DARKNESS AND DECEPTION.
Abbas criticized the Hamas-led Gaza regime for allowing rockets to be fired into Israel but said the rocket fire hurts the Palestinians more than they Israelis, who keep demanding that Abbas take action to stop it. A Hamas statement denounced Abbas’ speech as “full of lies and fabrications.”Settlers started putting up outposts across the West Bank after Israel reached its initial peace accords with the Palestinians in the early 1990s, in an effort to break up territory the Palestinians want for a state. More than 100 were built without official authorization, but with the tacit or active cooperation of Israeli authorities, according to official reports. About 400 Israelis live in outposts, according to the anti-settlement Peace Now movement, in addition to about 270,000 who live in more than 120 authorized settlements. Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said he hoped Olmert would follow through on the outposts.
“I really hope that Mr. Olmert will honor his commitment as far as a settlement freeze and dismantling of settlement outposts and other obligations because what we need now is deeds and not words,” he said. Let us state it again. The outposts and settlers are not the disgrace hanging over Israel’s head. Ehud Ohlmert and the entire Kadima Party IS!
