According to a World Net Daily News Report, President Bush repeated his belief that all religions “whether they be Muslim, Christian or any other religion, prays to the same God.” an assertion that caused outrage among many Bible-believing Christians when the President first said something similar in November 2003. Bush made the statement Friday in an interview with Al Arabiya reporter Elie Nakouzi. Al Arabya is Al Jazeerah’s top competitor in the Middle East.
As the president and Nakouzi walked from the Oval Office to the Map Room in the White House residence, Nazoulki asked, “But I want to tell you and I hope this doesn’t bother you at all – that in the Islamic world they think that President Bush is an enemy of Islam – that he wants to destroy their religion, what they believe in. Is that in any way true, Mr. President?”
No, it’s not,” said Bush. “I’ve heard that, and it just shows a couple of things; one, that the radicals have done a good job of propagandizing. In other words, they’ve spread the word that this really isn’t peaceful people versus radical people or terrorists, but this is really about America not liking Islam.” Bush went on to state that he believed all religions “pray to the same God,” adding, “Islam is a great religion that preaches peace.” Bush hosts a 7th Ramadan event in as many years at the White House this week, something that no other American president has ever done.
“The reason I do this is I want peple to understand about my country. In other words I hope this message gets out of America. I want people to understand that one of the great freedoms in America is the right for people to worship any way they see fit. If you’re a Muslim, an agnostic, a Christian, a Jew, a Hindu, you’re equally American.”From those who have come out of Islam and met the Lord Jesus Christ we would be hard pressed to hear them state Islam is a religion of peace!
We disagree wholeheartedly with the President that “all religions pray to the same God.” People may think the “god” they are praying to is the same God as the God of the Bible, but they are sadly mistaken. If they do not come to the saving knowledge of the truth, they will come to the sad eternal end as all unbelievers in Jesus do.
Hell is full of people who may have been good moral people on earth but they never placed their faith and trust in the shed Blood and sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. This is a growing and disturbing trend in American thought AND in the church. Hal Lindsey was booted off TBN last year because his program which labeled Islam as it truly was – a religion built upon a foundation of violence and the sword. Paul Crouch’s efforts to “bridge the gap” between Christianity and false religions was the given reason why the network did this.
I do agree with the President’s assertion that in America all are free to worship who they want. That is the power of living in a democratically free society. But living free is NOT a license for any nation – be it America or Israel – to remove God from their choices. Separation of church and state is actually a Biblical principle; separation of God and state is not! All nations who forget God will be turned into hell, states the Holy Spirit through the Psalmist. – Psalms 9:17-Jesus says, “I am the way, the TRUTH and the LIFE, and NO MAN comes to the Father except by ME!” -John 14:6- He did not say no man comes to God as long as they come any way they choose or pray.
This thought is seeping into the thought of MILLIONS in America and many within evangelical circles in the church as the apostasy of the last days continues to grow and become more pronounced.Post your comments to this and let us know how you feel about Islam, the true way to God, and President Bush’s comments.
Before I bacame a Christian (I thought I was already)I thought the same way. I could not imagine that God would send anyone to Hell because of their ignorance of Jesus’ sacrifice and their acceptance of Him. He doesn’t. They choose to go because of their unbelief that Jesus paid the price for them to enter Heaven. It breaks my heart that professing Christians do not see this. If we love others, we have to tell them the truth.
